How to Sleep Good at Night: 25 Tips

It's one thing to have a sleepless night here and there, but it's a whole other thing when sleepless night are becoming or have become the norm. I know what it's like to go night after night staring at a ceiling that's staring back at me, wishing I could just slip over into SlumberLand and stay there throughout the night. I also know what it's like to enjoy good sleep, on a consistent basis. If you need some help getting the kind of sleep you want and need, take a look below to see if any of the tips I've provided seem worth your while.
1. Cut back on your caffeine intake during the day.
2. Practice deep breathing exercises throughout the day and when you're finally in bed prepared for sleep.
3. Exercise 3-5 days a week.
4. Practice relaxation techniques when you have breaks during the day.
5. Get to bed at the same time each night.
6. Don't go to bed without bathing/showering.
7. Be in bed before midnight.
8. Don't go to bed hungry, but choose only a small, healthy snack.
9. Listen to relaxing music before you call it a night.
10. Cut off fluid intake a few hours before bed, if possible, so you're not up all night going to the bathroom.
11. Prepare what needs preparing for the next work/school day so you won't be kept awake thinking about what you should've, but didn't get done.
12. Dress comfortably for bed.
13. Turn off the tv/computer at least an hour before crawling in the sack.
14. Bedtime isn't the time for making mental to-do lists. When the next morning comes you can make all the mental to-do lists you want. Just not at bedtime.
15. Make sure your room is at a comfortable temperature.
16. If your spouse is keeping you up with snoring, there are actions that should be taken to correct the problem.
17. Keep negativity from others at bay when you're preaparing to go to sleep.
18. Pray.
19. Don't go to bed angry.
20. Sit outside on the porch and take in some fresh air before you call it a night.
21. Try not to go to bed sad or depressed. Whatever techniques you use to tackle these negative emotions in any other setting, put them into action before your head hits the pillow.
22. Know that no matter how bad your day was, a new day with plenty of opportunity is on the horizon.
23. How's your mattress? Your pillows? Could be they're robbing you of sleep.
24. Meditate.
25. Never argue before going to bed. If someone wants to fight with you, leave them to argue with themselves.

Some great tips here, another one that might help with #14 is keep a note pad and pen by your bed, if you do think of something you need to do, write it down. Now that you have it written down, you don’t have to worry about forgetting it you can quit thinking about it and hopefully go to sleep.
