Written Prayers
66
I am compelled to offer a bit of advice to the pray-ers of the world.
Maybe you're new to the Christian faith, seeking for help staying committed to prayer. It could be that you're a seasoned pray-er. Either way, I believe you'll be able to benefit from this hub.
Some months ago, I started writing things down throughout the day that I wanted/needed to talk to God about. Some I wrote down because I didn't want to forget to talk to Him about them. Some I wrote down in order that I might be able to be very specific when I petitioned Him.
Eventually, I started writing down some of my morning prayers also (before I would pray them) and now I have a journal of things I pray on a daily basis. I even use the back portion of this journal ( a college-ruled notebook) for intercessory prayers ( concerning family, friends, co-workers, world issues, etc). And all of this started from one act of taking a pen and pad to write that first prayer.
Maybe you're already doing something along these lines. But if not, it's worth incorporating into your prayer life.
There are no set rules in this, however, a couple things I like to do is to write down the time and date I initially wrote the prayer. And I'll also leave a space for God's answer when it comes. Notice I said, when it comes. Because it always does, sooner or later. And when it does, I record when (the date and time, if possible) and how He answered.
I believe it's much easier to be aware of God's faithfulness and wisdom in answering our prayers when we keep some type of prayer journal. It's a reminder we can turn to during times of discouragement and doubt and know that we are in good hands.
Pray on.

Writing one's prayers down is very beneficial. I love 'moving pass the storm' and looking back over the written prayers I felt were so important at the time. It helps one to realize that God has it all in control, even when one might feel He doesn't. Nice reminder thanks for sharing!:)
Thank you for reminding us yolanda of a very crucial part of a Christian's life and that is continual communion with God. Journaling is very important and I agree with you, when you are going through hard times you can look back at all the answered prayers and remember that God has always brought us through those trials and is able and willing to do it once again.
I have kept a notebook and it has been so useful, stay blessed Yoalanda and thank you.
I agree pray on.
God answers and listens to the prayers of His righteous children.
Be blessed mam.
This sounds like a great idea. I believe it could help me to develop a stronger relationship with my God.
Thanks for caring so much to write this hub and share it with us.
God bless ?
Great article. In our visual society, sometimes if we can't look at it, it's harder for us to focus on it.
I remember joining a prayer group and being really surprised that they not only kept a journal of everyone's prayer requests, but a journal with 2 columns: one column for the request, and one column for the answer, and they would always go back and record the answer. I love that they prayed with such expectation. It taught me a lot about praying with faith.
Yolanda...good hub, voted up, useful, interesting. I've kept journals since 12/13/80 and have recorded 206,809 specific answers...no brag, just a stats junky of sorts! George Mueller's biography and Brother Lawrence's Practicing the Presence of God were both influential in my walk. Keep steadfast, Sister! 1Cor. 15:58!!
